Playing
a Card. Beginning
with the player to the left of the Dealer, moving clockwise,
the first player selects a card from his/her hand that
matches an OPEN spot on the Quinto®
board. The player places the card FACE UP in a
discard pile and places a chip on the corresponding
space on the Quinto®
board. The player then draws a replacement card
from a draw pile and play continues clockwise. |
 |
| 2. |
Strategy.
Deciding which card to play depends on whether the player
wants to play offensively or defensively. Keep
the following in mind: |
| |
•
|
Obtaining a
Quinto®.
A player forms a Quinto
when five of the same color chips are placed contiguously,
either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, on the
playing board. Once a Quinto has been formed,
the player (or his/her teammates) must announce "Quinto"
to score points. The five chips are then "crowned"
by placing white chips on top of the five red or blue
contiguous chips. |
| |
• |
Wild Kings.
The Kings are powerful wild cards that are used by the
player to ADD or REMOVE chips on the board. The
Black Kings are used to ADD a playing chip on any open
space, while the Red Kings are used to REMOVE any uncrowned
playing chip on the Quinto®
board. |
| |
• |
Bonus Corners.
The four spaces on the corners of the playing board
are Bonus spaces. The team who first secures four
adjoining spaces captures the bonus space. Once
a bonus Quinto is obtained, this Bonus space can only
be used by the player/team who first secured the bonus
Quinto. |
| |
• |
Ace of Spades Quinto®.
When an Ace of Spades is first used to form a Quinto,
the point value for all five cards are doubled. |
| |
• |
Quick Quinto®.
A "Quick Quinto"®
doubles the points. This occurs when a player, during
his/her turn, plays five cards (or four if Bonus spaces
are used) in his/her hand which would form an immediate
Quinto. NOTE: Black Kings may be used, all of
the spaces must be vacant on the board, and the player
redraws five (or four) cards. |
 |
| 3. |
Stopping a
Round. Play continues
until a combined TOTAL of three Quintos are obtained
(called a "round"). At the end of each round,
the points are tallied, the board is cleared, and the
cards are reshuffled and redealt by the next Dealer. |
 |
| 4. |
Scoring Points.
The points are obtained from
the Quintos secured: face cards, aces, and 10's are
worth 10 points; Bonus corners, 25 points; all other
cards (#2 through #9) are worth 5 points. An Ace
of Spades Quinto®
doubles the total points as does a Quick Quinto®.
Bonus points are obtained for Double and Triple Quintos
(see Table 2 Scoring Points). |

team to reach 500 points wins! |
